Posture Stability in Virtual Reality Meditation Practice

Ching-Hua Lee, Hsiao-Yue Tsao · 2024

Research has found that meditation is beneficial for improving health and reducing diseases, with evidence of positive effects that encompass a wide range of physiological and psychological aspects. Studies have also shown that Virtual Reality based meditation practices have proven to be more effective than traditional practices. VR technology allows users to immerse themselves in a non-interfering and tranquil virtual environment, and this sense of immersion can greatly enhance the effectiveness of meditation. During VR meditation practices, maintaining a stable and correct sitting posture is considered fundamental to improving focus and effectiveness. However, for many practitioners, maintaining a stable posture during sitting meditation is a common challenge. Incorrect posture can lead to physical discomfort, hinder breathing, and thus reduce the overall experience and effectiveness of seated meditation. This study aims to explore posture stability during VR meditation practices, and the research findings demonstrate that the use of posture training devices in VR meditation practices has a positive impact on beginners. The study further explores how to optimize VR meditation practices to maximize their health benefits.
