Informational reading comprehension is a critical skill in reading and interpreting texts, which demands one's ability to determine the main idea, key details, inferences, and vocabulary in context. However, most students struggle with these skills, as evidenced by their poor performance. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the Event-Semantic Extraction Technique in enhancing grade 7 students' informational reading comprehension. An experimental research design was adopted, and pretest and posttest measures were the main tools. The study involved 40 grade 7 students from Adela S. Torres National High School, who underwent three weeks of instruction using this technique with informational texts, such as news, as reading materials. The findings indicated a significant increase in the ability of the students to extract key details, infer meaning, and understand vocabulary in context. Statistical analysis indicated a significant difference between pretest and posttest, implying that the Event-Semantic Extraction Technique effectively enhanced students' reading comprehension. These findings suggest that systematic event-based approaches can be useful tools to enhance learners' ability to analyze and interpret informational texts.
