In today’s fast-paced world, blockchain has carved out a name for itself – for its efficient use and various other features such as immutability, transparency embedded with security as well as cost reduction, and increased speed in transactions. While this system has been vastly used across various applications, it is to be noted that blockchain has a distinct purpose in the field of digital forensics. For a field that needs a very high maintenance of integrity for legal purposes, blockchain plays a noteworthy role in uncovering digital evidence, reconstructing events, and providing a reliable basis for legal action or further cybersecurity measures. One can invest time in leveraging the decentralized and immutable nature of blockchain technology without any hassles, and still maintain the integrity of data across the ledgers. This abstract emphasizes the ability of blockchain to employ a secure service to invoke a transparent chain of custody and streamline the verification of digital records. In addition to this, it addresses a decentralized collaboration among different entities involved in any investigation case entailing digital forensics, including various other institutions and organizations such as cybersecurity firms, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders. Blockchain even authenticates cryptographic hashes and digital signatures to verify and check various files of different sizes and formats, ensuring that they have not been altered in any unorderly fashion.
