User-Centric Multi-AP Cooperation for Next-Generation Wi-Fi

Jiangzhou Li, Gaole Long, Baichuan Yao, Ruikang Wang, Gang Xie · 2025

With the development of Wi-Fi technology, high-bandwidth services such as 8K ultra-high-definition video and AR/VR are attracting more and more attention, and the deployment of high-density wireless LANs (HD-WLANs) in hotspot areas has become an inevitable trend. Wi-Fi 7 is attempting to increase bandwidth, handle more users at the same time, and reduce latency. What started as Wi-Fi 7 draft Multi-Access Point Coordination (MAPC) has become part of the Wi-Fi 8 program. This technology can improve network efficiency in high-density environments. In this paper, we will discuss a user-centric approach to MAPC that employs a user-centric resource allocation strategy based on modularity. The approach aims to improve the network speed while taking into account the quality of service for different users. Simulation results in this paper show that the method can reduce the interference between access points while improving the overall network performance in hotspot areas.
