Cybersecurity Alliances in Financial Audit: Bridging Government Frameworks and Industry Innovation

Shashank Reddy Nandi · 2025

As our financial systems continue to move towards digitized platforms, they rely ever more heavily on cybersecurity for access, integrity, and security in financial audits. Moving beyond compliance with regulations that are focused more on assurance than actual control matrix in an agile and rapid threat landscape can be quite challenging. This chapter highlights public-private partnerships - alliances between regulatory authorities and private companies - as an important mechanism to strengthen financial audit processes. The alliances can counteract the effects of finance regulations or regulatory practices like NIST, ISO/IEC 27001, and COBIT while embracing the new innovations and technology approaches such as automated analytical models using Artificial Intelligence, blockchain technology, and cyber threat intelligence feeds. This chapter includes examples from real world, analyzes models of implementation, and examines the benefits and challenges that can be found in public-private partnerships in the state of audit cybersecurity. Public-private partnerships highlight the dynamic and trust-based relationships that are key features in developing audits that are strong, robust, and resilient, and also work towards developing a transparent and sustainable financial audit ecosystem of the future.
