Memory-Optimized Stern-Based Digital Signature

Ivan Nitkin · 2025

The article presents the memory optimization method for digital signatures based on the Stern identification protocol. The proposed method relies on reducing the size of the commitment block, thereby minimizing redundant data storage. This possibility is achieved by transferring unverifiable commitments of the Stern scheme to the response block. Using this approach, the modified digital signature based on the Stern scheme is provided. The comparative analysis of the functional characteristics between the basic and the modified signature schemes confirms the improvement of the signature memory characteristics. Comparative results demonstrate statistically significant reduction in signature size. Based on this modified Stern-based signature is considered as optimized one. Security of the optimized signature scheme is demonstrated on the level of the basic one.
