This paper considers the problem of stereo images and modern technologies in scientific visualisation tasks. The question of the value of three-dimensional visualisation for testing models, understanding the dynamics of processes and popularisation of works in the context of its application in such fields as digital twins, generative neural networks, biological and medical research is considered. In light of the increasing complexity of data and phenomena, a particular challenge is to think about visual strategy and to adapt materials to modern means of demonstration. The paper describes methods and software products (Multiview StereoMaker) and demonstrates successful application to various scientific and technical problems – from body flow to medical and biological research. Stereo visualisation allows detailed study of parameter distributions, qualitative flow patterns, anatomical structures, etc. Stereo images are also used in verification of numerical methods and comparative analysis of their accuracy. The use of stereo images allows researchers in various fields of science and technology to obtain a deep understanding (“insight”) of objects and physical processes under study. Algorithms for creating stereo images on modern stereo devices become an important part of modern methods of mathematical modeling applied to various classes of problems. The combination of classical approaches with the latest technologies (digital twins, artificial intelligence) opens wide perspectives for analysing, interpreting and presenting scientific results.
