The benefits and pitfalls of digital document storage systems

Abstract I expect that most readers of The Computer Bulletin would claim to be knowledgeable about electronic data processing, could talk intelligently about the 486 chip or the latest version of Windows and in all probability would be proud of the way they use computers to help in the efficient running of their business. But I expect they would be horrified if I accused them of backing up their electronic data system with a ‘steam-driven’ information management system. Actually it might be even worse than that - it might be no better than manual! Let me explain.
