In this paper, the natural grounding performance of spiral anchor foundation for ±800 kV overhead transmission line in self-weighted wet subsidence loess is investigated. The superiority of spiral anchor foundation in terms of grounding resistance is verified through theoretical derivation; Current Distribution, Electromagnetic Fields, Grounding, and Soil Structure (CDEGS) software simulation; and field measurement. The results show that the spiral anchor foundation has a low grounding resistance, which meets the requirements of the national code and has a high value for engineering application. The study provides a new solution for the grounding design of transmission lines, which has a wide application prospect especially in the wet loess area.
