Three-Dimensional Path Planning for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Based on a Hybrid Strategy of Dung Beetle Optimization Algorithm and Grey Wolf Optimization Algorithm

Chenming Yang · 2025

This paper presents a novel UAV three-dimensional path planning method by integrating the Dung Beetle Optimization (DBO) algorithm and the Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) algorithm. Aiming at the problems of traditional algorithms in UAV path planning, such as local optima trapping and low convergence accuracy, this hybrid algorithm combines the advantages of both algorithms. The Fuch and Logistic chaotic maps are used for population initialization to enhance the global search ability. During the optimization process, the DBO algorithm's strong local exploitation ability and the GWO algorithm's global search characteristics are coordinated. A Bézier curve is employed to smooth the planned path. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed hybrid algorithm outperforms traditional algorithms in terms of path length, convergence speed, and path smoothness, validating its effectiveness in UAV three-dimensional path planning.
