Probabilistic Shaping for Peak Power Constrained IM-DD Systems: Perspective of Envelope Control

A novel indirect probabilistic shaping scheme tailed for peak-power constrained IM-DD systems is proposed based on dynamic selective mapping. Collaborating with turbo equalization, about 1dB receiver sensitivity improvement is observed in a 56GBaud PAM8 system.
