The Implementation of Natural Language Processing in Automatic English Composition Scoring

Lili Wei · 2025

With the development of artificial intelligence technology, the application of natural language processing in the field of education continues to deepen. A natural language processing based automatic scoring system for English compositions has been designed to address issues such as strong subjectivity, inconsistent scoring criteria, and time-consuming and laborious processes. The system achieves multi-dimensional automatic evaluation of composition content, language expression, and discourse structure through core technologies such as text preprocessing, feature extraction, semantic analysis, and machine learning. The experimental results show that the system has achieved the expected goals in terms of scoring accuracy, consistency, and efficiency. The scoring results are highly consistent with manual scoring, providing an effective intelligent auxiliary tool for English teaching.
