Re-keying in Group Key Management for Wireless Sensor Network Using Nested Balanced Incomplete Block Designs

This article presents an Exclusion Basis System (EBS)-based re-keying technique on Nested Balanced Incomplete Block Design (NBIBD), near-resolvable NBIBD, and resolvable NBIBD with the repetition count of every pairwise element greater than or equal to one (μ2≥1) after ejecting a single, simultaneous two and n elements. It is observed that the re-keying message of NBIBD for a single ejection is smaller than that of a Symmetric Balanced Incomplete Block Design (SBIBD). Moreover, when χ=2κ2 or χ=2κ2+1, with κ2≥2, the re-keying message of an NBIBD is similar to that of the EBS. However, when κ=κ2=2, the re-keying message of the NBIBD coincides with that of Balanced Incomplete Block Design (BIBD); otherwise, it is smaller. If ejection increases in simultaneous odd/even order, then the re-keying message decreases in NBIBD for S. T.-I/S. T.-II. Furthermore, when simultaneous ejection increases, then the re-keying message decreases in a resolvable NBIBD with μ2=1.
