Pioneer Politicians and the CPUSA
Jack Hodgson · Fordham University Press eBooks · 2024
The Young Pioneers of America had a complex relationship with elders in the Young Communist League and the adult Communist Party. Pioneers were respected as political activists in their own right among the wider American Left. This is demonstrated by their role in endorsing local candidates in elections, giving political speeches, writing articles in the adult Communist newspaper the Daily Worker, and making high-profile speeches, such as an address given by the YPA’s Morris Spector at the 1925 Lenin Memorial meeting at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
