Analyzing Sports Videos Using Computer Vision Methods

Recent developments in video analysis of sports and computer vision techniques have enabled significant improvements in a variety of critical operations. In this survey paper, we analyze the use of computer vision methods for analyzing sports videos. We review the state-of-the-art studies that have employed computer vision techniques for different tasks, including ball tracking, content analysis, and complex analysis in sports such as soccer, basketball, cricket, and badminton. We inspect the key points and weaknesses of these methodologies and investigate whether they can be utilized in real-time sports video analysis systems. Our survey mainly focuses on providing a comprehensive review of research carried out in computer vision-based sports video analysis for analyzing sports videos. The survey aims to identify open issues, future trends, and research directions in this field.
