MAIN DIFFERENCES, ADVANTAGES, AND DISADVANTAGES OF USING THE NETWORK MODELS “SEMANTIC NETWORK” AND “KNOWLEDGE GRAPH”
Anatoly F. Zaytsev · International Journal of Advanced Studies in Computer Engineering · 2025
In conditions of constant increase of information, the relevance in the development and use of adequate models for its representation, structuring, and analysis is rapidly increasing. In solving this problem, such models as semantic networks and knowledge graphs act as effective tools used in computer systems for information management and processing. Semantic networks and knowledge graphs are network models for representing information, each of which has its own unique features, advantages, and disadvantages. As a result of the study, it was revealed that semantic networks are characterized by the convenience of representing interconnected information and are effective in modeling relatively simple systems, while knowledge graphs provide more flexible and scalable knowledge processing capabilities for modeling complex dynamic systems.
