Educating Empathetic Healthcare Systems with AI Technologies among Practitioners

Krishnaveni Subramani, Geetha Manoharan · 2025

Empathy helps to contribute accurately to the precise healthcare user's circumstance. Empathy, or the ability to understand the patient's personal experience without associating with them, is a vital communication skill for a health professional. It has three dimensions: emotional, cognitive, and behavioral. It has been demonstrated that health workers with high levels of empathy work more efficiently to perform their roles. The empathic professional recognises the needs of healthcare consumers since they feel free to communicate their ideas and concerns. Although the importance of empathy cannot be emphasised, many health professionals struggle to integrate an empathic communication model into their daily practice. The chapter stresses empathy training for medical practitioners using cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, as computer-aided technology in the form of care bots and chat-bots has begun to replace human carers. These technologies have the potential to both improve and reduce empathy in many healthcare systems.
