Building a Scalable Decentralized File Exchange Hub Using Google Cloud Platform and MongoDB Atlas

Rakesh Recharla · 2025

This paper presents the development of a scalable and secure decentralized file exchange hub leveraging Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services and MongoDB Atlas. The project demonstrates the transition from local to cloud deployment, highlighting the advantages of cloud infrastructure in terms of scalability, reliability, and flexibility. The deployment process utilized Docker for containerization, GitHub Actions for continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD), and Terraform for infrastructure as code, ensuring a version-controlled and auditable infrastructure. Key challenges, such as custom domain mapping, security management, and dependency handling, were addressed through best practices and online resources. The findings underscore the importance of modern development practices, including CI/CD and infrastructure as code, in enhancing application resilience and efficiency. This work aims to provide insights and recommendations for developers pursuing similar cloud-based solutions.
