G. Sai Kiranmai · International Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Science · 2025

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies has transformed the intellectual property (IP) landscape, raising fundamental questions about authorship, ownership, and liability. As AI-generated content, inventions, and innovations continue to emerge, IP laws and policies are struggling to keep pace. This comprehensive review article provides an in-depth examination of the current state of IP in the AI era, exploring the challenges and opportunities presented by these technologies. Key concerns include the ownership of AI-generated works, the patentability of AI inventions, and the adequacy of current legal standards to address AI’s autonomous capabilities. A nuanced approach is necessary to balance these competing interests and ensure that IP rights are aligned with the ethical and legal implications of AI generated content and inventions.
