Blockchain-enabled electricity data sharing mechanism using attribute-based encryption

Zairan Liu, Guangwei Jiang, Yang Sun, Jianglin Wang, Qinghuan Dong · 2024

The current electricity data sharing schemes face challenges such as low encryption efficiency and vulnerability to tampering with user attributes. To address these issues, this paper presents a novel approach that combines blockchain technology with attribute-based encryption (ABE). By integrating ABE with symmetric encryption algorithms, the scheme guarantees confidentiality and provides fine-grained access control over electricity data. An online/offline encryption mode is introduced to improve encryption efficiency, while outsourcing computing technology is employed to reduce the computational burden on users. Attribute sets and data hash values are recorded on the blockchain to guarantee the immutability of user attributes and the correctness of decryption. The analysis demonstrates that this scheme facilitates the secure sharing of electricity data and is well-suited for resource-constrained electricity terminal devices.
