Information Security Technology and Defense Measures for Smart Grid

Bin Yu, Xiaolong Zhang, Yindong Li · 2024

As a key infrastructure of a modern nation, the power grid is inextricably linked to the livelihoods of its citizens and the development of the economy. The advent of the smart grid has significantly promoted socioeconomic development by optimizing issues inherent in the traditional power grid through intelligent power distribution, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and achieving rational allocation of electrical energy. Due to the power grid's heavy reliance on information and communication technology, it is susceptible to information security issues, necessitating robust enhancements in information security defenses. Considering that the smart grid represents the future trajectory of power grid development, and given that the power system is a technologyintensive industry, the development of the smart grid relies on secure and stable data interactions. This paper proposes technologies and protective frameworks related to smart grid information security, aiming to provide insights for the current secure and stable operation of the power grid and the integration of information security technologies. Ultimately, it seeks to leverage modern information technology to facilitate the transition from the traditional power grid to the smart grid.
