This chapter gives a birds eye view on IoT security architectures with special focuses on securing interconnected digital asset in current smart environments. Consequently, security is indispensable in IoT, which includes integrated advanced sensing, networking and data analytics in distributed infrastructures. The chapter also looks at key aspects with respect to fundamental architecture models, threat vectors, and technical controls, as well as emergent solutions and regulatory frameworks. Based on established standards and guidelines, yet fills notable research gaps and controversies. This culminates in a forward looking analysis on how robust security architectures can maintain trust, protect data and will aid in safe and reliable growth of IoT. The chapter synthesizes current knowledge about, and moves to identify gaps in, existing approaches with a view to provide strategic insights for decision makers, practitioners and researchers to strengthen IoT security principles in a fast changing technological landscape.
