Electronic Health Records (EHRs) contain vital patient health information, but their secure and efficient management remains a challenge. Blockchain technology has the potential to resolve these issues by providing a decentralised, secure, and immutable EHR ledger. This paper investigates the use of blockchain for EHR administration and proposes a framework for the implementation of a blockchain-based EHR system. Our proposed architecture consists of a decentralised network of nodes for storing and sharing EHRs, smart contracts for enforcing access control and consent management, and a consensus algorithm for guaranteeing the integrity and validity of the EHRs. We discuss the prospective advantages of using blockchain for EHR administration, such as increased security, privacy, and interoperability, as well as the obstacles that must be overcome to ensure the successful implementation of a blockchain-based EHR system.
