Advanced IoT Solutions for enhanced weather forecasting

Abhideep Saha, Darsh Jainb, Meeta Singh · 2025

Weather prediction has always been crucial for societies, and advancements in technology have significantly improved the accuracy of forecasts. While the roots of weather forecasting are in atmospheric science, traditional methods often face challenges that can lead to serious outcomes, including loss of life and environmental harm. The use of IoT technology presents a promising solution to these issues. Internet of Things (IoT) devices, like sensors and Wemos boards, gather real-time data that, when processed with deep learning algorithms and communication protocols, can enhance weather forecasting systems. This paper examines the shortcomings of traditional forecasting, the impact of IoT in overcoming these challenges, and the practical uses of IoT, such as sensor networks, data mining, and machine learning. Case studies demonstrate the effectiveness of these technologies, and the paper wraps up with suggestions for future enhancements in IoT-based weather forecasting.
