COMPARATIVE SURVEY OF SYSTEMATIC REVIEW AND META-ANALYSIS FOR TREATMENT OF AMBLYOPIA USING VIRTUAL REALITY

Nikhil Muvva · INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF COMPUTER ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY · 2025

Children with vision problems sometimes experience amblyopia, also known as "lazy eye".Numerous treatments have been developed over time to help individuals with amblyopia improve their visual acuity and binocular vision. This review offers a comprehensive analysis of traditional and innovative therapies for childhood amblyopia, synthesizing data from over 20 high-quality studies, including metaanalyses and randomized controlled trials.Refractive correction, binocular therapy, pharmacological treatment, occlusion treatment (patching), virtual reality rehabilitation, and video game-based therapies are among the various therapeutic modalities available. We evaluate the effects on visual-motor skills, stereoacuity outcomes, treatment efficacy, and adherence rates.Contemporary digital technologies, including VR-based tools and video games, offer significant improvements in visual acuity and adherence, particularly in younger children.Although conventional patching remains the industry standard, innovative, child-friendly alternatives are increasingly important due to the challenges of patient adherence. This research investigates the Nikhil Muvva
