Kapil Mishra, Satish Kumar Singh, Panduranga Naidu Nagabhushan · 2024
Considering the increased role of technology in medical field, medical image security is of utmost importance. Often image processing is used for assisting proper diagnosis of diseases. Storage and communication of the medical images cannot be prevented and thus inevitable. To ensure secure transmission, the paper proposes an efficient approach for medical image encryption. A brief review of related works is performed. Henon chaotic map is used for random number generation. Generated stream of random values is used for shuffling and substitution rounds to further improve the security performance. Block based algorithm is proposed for execution efficiency. The secret key is generated from the original images to resist from chosen plain text attacks. Vigorous security and performance metrics analysis is performed and discussed. It includes analyzing key space, correlation, histogram, and key sensitivity. Comparison of various performance metrics with previous works is performed to showcase efficacy of the proposed algorithm.
