Project management software is essential for managing the lifecycle of software development across enterprises and academic projects. Project management methodologies can be used to streamline tasks such as estimation, development cost, collaboration, resource allocation, communication & post-deployment maintenance. This paper surveys major project management methodologies, such as Agile, Waterfall and Hybrid Agile, highlighting their philosophies and historical contexts. It also examines recent advancements in project management research and current evolving variations within the field. The paper aims to share insights and recommendations for improving project management techniques used in an organization to improve productivity and effectiveness of software development.
