The Decoupled Two Closely Distributed Omnidirectional PIFAs Using A Meander Line

Z. Xu, Xiyao Liu · 2024

This paper presents two planar inverted-F antennas (PIFAs) employing a neutralization line (NL) to enhance isolation and improve radiation patterns. The two elements are positioned back-to-back with a separation distance of 0.05λ, and the neutralization line is etched between them. Utilizing this decoupling method, simulation result shows that the impedance bandwidth (S11$< -10$dB) of the antenna ranges from 2.26 GHz to 2.73 GHz, achieving a relative bandwidth of 19.58%. Additionally, the isolation between the two ports is significantly improved, increasing from 9.7 dB to 17.6 dB. The radiation pattern is also enhanced. Moreover, the PIF As show stable omnidirectional radiation patterns with a realized peak gain of 1.94 dBi.
