Curriculum Innovations Integrating

Mustafa Kayyali · 2025

In recent years, educational technology has altered how writing instruction is provided, and two innovations—augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR)—are emerging as significant tools for strengthening writing center programs. This chapter analyzes the incorporation of AR and VR into writing center pedagogy, analyzing the potential these technologies offer to revolutionize the writing process and provide more immersive, interactive learning experiences for students. The study highlights the unique properties of AR and VR that make them perfect for creative writing exercises, collaborative feedback sessions, and tailored help for writers at various phases of their writing process. Ultimately, the chapter argues that while the integration of AR and VR into writing centers requires thoughtful planning and careful execution, the potential benefits—such as enhanced student motivation, a more interactive learning environment, and a deeper understanding of the writing process—make these technologies a promising addition to writing center programs.
