Listrack: a custom interoperability design for regulated blockchains

Henrique de Carvalho Videira, Henrique de Carvalho Videira · 2025

Listrack, an acronym for Listen and Track, is an innovative interoperability design tailored for regulated blockchains, particularly Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs). It addresses the challenge of executing atomic transactions between regulated and external blockchains without intermediaries. By leveraging trusted nodes within a regulated blockchain, Listrack ensures transaction uniqueness, secure refunds, and enhanced scalability. The design utilizes state-pinning to consolidate external transactions into a single hash, enabling consensus through cost-free queries to external blockchains. This approach addresses challenges such as off-chain public key synchronization, middleware code maintenance, and individual node censorship by enabling each user to independently settle their own transactions. Any unusual malfunction of regulated nodes in Listrack is addressed by selecting multiple trustworthy node backups, ensuring atomicity in genuine cross-chain transactions, and unlocking cross-chain composability in smart contracts. Future research will aim to improve the algorithm for blockchains without a native programming language by creating dedicated libraries to decode raw transactions, as Listrack does not use connectors.
