Ramesh Chandra Goswami, Hiren D Joshi, Sunil Gautam, Mohd Zuhair · 2025

Many sectors have been transformed by the widespread use of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, but there are also new security risks that have never been seen before. To improve IoT security in response, this study undertakes a thorough analysis of the incorporation of Edge Computing and Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS). Edge Computing makes it possible to analyze IoT data in real time by putting computational resources closer to the network&s;s edge, while IDS features make it possible to identify and counteract security risks. In our review, we look at how IDS and Edge Computing work well together and how they may be used together to meet the particular security needs of IoT contexts. We talk about how implementing IDS at the network edge can improve resilience against cyber threats, decrease latency, and strengthen privacy safeguards. In addition, we list important obstacles such heterogeneity in devices and scalability problems and suggest possible directions for further research and development. In summary, this analysis highlights the importance of integrating IDS and Edge Computing as a viable approach to strengthen IoT security and support the ongoing development of IoT technologies for a variety of applications.
