Building a Community Robotics Pipeline
Jerry Ryan David Gustafson · 2025
This chapter presents a collaborative proposal to build a community-wide robotics education pipeline, spanning elementary school through post-secondary education in Southeast Saskatchewan. It highlights current initiatives at local schools, Southeast College, and the Southeast Techhub, and outlines a phased roadmap to expand programming, create a dedicated robotics lab, and foster applied research and community engagement. The initiative is rooted in project-based learning and cross-institutional collaboration, with a focus on developing 21st-century skills and long-term economic resilience in a rural region. A plan for longitudinal data collection is proposed to assess educational and community impact over time, with the goal of establishing a replicable framework for other communities seeking to build their own areas of specialization.
