We propose channel-polarized multilevel coding with an iterative decoder (CP-MLC-ID) to improve the decoding performance. CP-MLC-ID using short-block-length Bose-Chaudhuri-Hocquenghem (BCH) and KP4 codes can outperform the maximum net coding gain (NCG) by 0.35 dB or more at 19.53% overhead compared with the conventional concatenated BCH-KP4 codes with low-complexity soft-decision decoder.
