The integration of intelligent image processing techniques into clinical and medical imaging techniques introduced a new horizon for improvement in the area of medical imaging and diagnostics. Such efforts have critically enhanced accuracy, efficiency, and the capacity to identify diseases early enough and provide treatments to patients. This chapter examines the innovation brought about by advancing capabilities within ML and AI that is seeking to alter the present face of the medical imaging industry by augmenting capture, processing, and interpretation of imagery using various modalities such as MRI, CT, and X-ray scans. Some of these models are based on deep learning, which includes things like transformers, Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), and even Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs). Such models can allow for an unprecedented ability to be involved in tasks that may include segmenting tissues, organs, and lesions while automatically detecting abnormalities and even accurately predicting disease course.
