Security and Privacy Issues for Blockchain Scenarios in IoT and WSN-Based Real-time Applications

Talea Huraysi · 2025

For effective data transfer, the researcher’s main worry is the security of the IoT network. In this chapter, an IoT security technique based on the Ethereum blockchain is proposed. The Internet of Things network can be used for a variety of applications, including health monitoring, railway monitoring, military applications, and so on. The current project is concerned with the security–delay tradeoff. For security, the three characteristics of the application, data sensitivity, and latency are considered. For reward and security reliability, a trust parameter is proposed. The increased security requirement lengthens the processing time and causes delays. As a result, the network’s throughput decreases. Furthermore, having fewer security requirements saves processing time and increases throughput. The three weight considerations are utilized to efficiently control the business application’s security requirements. The results reveal that the proposed method effectively meets the application requirement by accurately controlling data sensitivity and delay. The results suggest that the proposed algorithm gives government and military apps a greater reward value. However, the railway application as well as the health application has a moderate reward value. Similarly, social networking applications have a poor reward value. Low reward value translates to low security and processing time. The throughput is better, and the delay is less due to the reduced processing time. The proposed method keeps blockchain’s distributed control methodology. Security control can also be managed by the security service provider as well as the business server.
