This paper explores the theoretical capacity of the Internet of Things (IoT) to optimize supply chain efficiency. IoT systems enable efficient data collection and communication capabilities, supporting data-driven decisions for sustainable supply chain operations. The paper outlines various potential use instances highlighting how IoT may optimize exceptional supply chain strategies, including stock and asset control, orders, predictive maintenance, and predictive upkeep. The paper then outlines diverse IoT architectures, components, security standards, and protocols to successfully design and implement an IoT platform for supply chain optimization. Eventually, the paper provides suggestions for deploying and dealing with IoT supply chain initiatives.
