Introduction to Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) in Drones

Roheen Qamar, Baqar Ali Zardari · Advances in computational intelligence and robotics book series · 2025

Drones have changed dramatically over the last several decades, from being a notion limited to science fiction and military uses to being an essential component of many businesses and daily life. This change started when the military started using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in the early 20th century for combat and surveillance operations. Drone technology has developed over time, demonstrating human creativity and the never-ending quest of innovation that has resulted in the development of complex devices that are more compact, effective, and competent than before. The drone has a long history. These include public acceptability, technological constraints, integration of airspace, and legal frameworks. Unlocking the full potential of drones will need persistent communication, investment in research and development, and cooperation across stakeholders to overcome these obstacles. This chapter discusses the drone technology evolution, its application and future work.
