THEMATIC STUDY OF THE EFFECT OF TEST COVERAGE AND TEST CASE EFFICIENCY ON SOFTWARE RELIABILITY

Ms. Sadhana Ojha · 2020

Software reliability is a key determinant of software quality and user satisfaction.Among several influencing parameters, test coverage and case efficiency have emerged as critical contributors to defect detection and fault prevention. This thematic study explores the impact of these two testing parameters on overall software reliability.Through an in-depth review of the literature, analysis of real-world case studies, and evaluation of quantitative data, this paper examines how various levels of code coverage and the effectiveness of test cases correlate with the rate of post-release defects and failure frequency. The results indicate a positive relationship between test adequacy and software reliability, but also emphasise the importance of strategic and cost-effective testing approaches. The study concludes with recommendations for optimising testing practices to enhance system dependability while minimising resource overhead.
