Luigi Ruggerone, Valeria Ricci · 2025
This chapter examines the wide adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, focusing on benefits and challenges. It analyses crucial issues such as changes in the labor market and data privacy management required for data-driven algorithms. The GDPR and AI Act regulations are introduced as essential measures to address these issues, with a focus on privacy enhancing technologies (PETs) and their key role in an increasingly data-centric society. The limits and opportunities of these technologies are explored through the main insights and applied research conducted by Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center&s;s Artificial Intelligence Lab. Furthermore, the chapter emphasizes the need for an ongoing dialogue between legislation and innovation to address evolving regulatory challenges, highlighting the importance of transparency and explainability of AI technologies to ensure their ethical and fair use.
