Leveraging Blockchain for Authentication in Internet of Medical Things

Biswajit Debnath, Priyanka Biswas, Anurag Mathur, Nirmalya Kar · 2025

Patient care is now more accurate and efficient, thanks to the quick development of Internet of Medical Things(IoMT) technology, which has made it possible to seamlessly integrate wearables, sensors, medical equipment and health care systems. However since different networks are involved and sensitive medical data is exchanged, this integrated ecosystem also poses serious problems to data security and patient privacy protection. It’s becoming apparent that conventional authentication methods are insufficient to meet these issues. In response, decentralized, transparent and temper-proof methods are provided by blockchain technology, which has emerged as a promising solution for improving authentication in IoMT contexts. The capacity of blockchain-based authentication protocols to offer safe and dependable device and user verification is the main emphasis of this survey’s exploration of their implementation in IoMT. This work provides an in-depth examination of current blockchain authentication frameworks and thorough analysis shows their effectiveness in authentication for IoMT environment.
