This paper introduces a unique controller design to integrate battery energy storage systems (BESS) into DSTATCOM. The core innovation lies in a weight-based control strategy that improves performance while streamlining computational processes. We propose a combined step size (CSS) approach within a RIP-ASPA. This facilitates rapid convergence and minimizes steady-state errors, leading to superior power quality. The CSS-RIP-APSA's central function is to accurately select the fundamental weight component associated with distorted load currents. This component is crucial for reactive power compensation and ensuring a stable power factor. The BESSDSTATCOM controller intelligently utilizes two step sizes to balance convergence speed and steady-state precision. Additionally, a modified sigmoid function allows the inverter to function seamlessly as a shunt compensator. Experimental validation on a grid-tied DSTATCOM system demonstrates the efficacy of the proposed algorithm. This work paves the way for refined weightbased control strategies in the BESS-DSTATCOM integration, offering a new controller that increases system performance and efficiency.
