The Exciting World of Multisensory Experiences

Abstract This chapter introduces the reader to the exciting world of multisensory experiences. It describes how humans perceive and experience the world around them through their senses. It also describes a number of initiatives in academia and industry that consider the different senses when designing experiences such as going to an art gallery, eating, and flying. Furthermore, it introduces the reader to the world of multisensory technologies. These technologies stimulate the human senses beyond what is seen and heard and brings the physical and digital worlds closer together stimulating also our sense of touch, smell, and even taste.
