A Data Acquisition Solution

Ronald A. Eberlein · 1992

Abstract Virtually all current Data Acquisition (Data Logging) Systems for Corrosion Surveys use the same methodology, they trap data and their user. The system described here frees the engineers to design their own system and frees the technician of all paper in the field. The software uses commercially available programs to organize and manipulate data and drawings. It also introduces the dimension of actual pictures for visual identification and documentation of data points and observations. The field acquisition unit is a VGA graphics computer specifically designed and built for field use. The entire system was designed and constructed by people with many years of field experience from different industries. They have a working knowledge of what goes on in the field and what information is important to the user of data acquisition systems. This system was built to eliminate most of the problems involved in data acquisition while remaining flexible enough to be customized for individual needs. All information is stored in a computer file in a desk top PC.
