Andrey Zеmskov, Alexandra Y. Telitsyna · 2025

The analytical review of AI in the libraries of the world is focused on the practice of large national and academic libraries in several European and Asian countries, in particular on 135 projects. The authors report that AI is used in foreign libraries for symbol recognition, difficult languages, historical documents, and visual materials. The AI is indispensable in complex and fast metadata processing, analysis and classification. In the library integrated systems, AI not only processes user queries, it upgrades information retrieval and tunes personal recommendations. The authors offer their recommendations on integrating AI into the library systems and on how to develop and use efficiently AI functionality in the library search systems.
