This research paper presents a method for preparing natural language data for analysis, with a particular focus on converting spoken language into written form within a Language Variation framework. The proposed method seeks to maintain the accuracy of the primary linguistic data being studied, while offering a theoretically sound and practical approach to data preparation. The method is designed to be efficient, placing reasonable constraints on the time and resources required from the analyst. Additionally, this project aims to provide clear, actionable guidelines for transcribing linguistic data from speech to text, fostering data-sharing within the linguistic community and facilitating broader research collaborations.
