BPMN Implementation Challenges When Used for Service Orchestration

The adoption of BPMN-based process orchestration has increased more recently. With this adoption, we have witnessed growing challenges while implementing BPMN-based software architectures. This paper aims to study the challenges faced during the implementation of BPMN 2.0 used to orchestrate REST, SOAP, or other web services and to create a higher level of capability service to provide an orchestrated backend to the UI application. The paper goes through the existing literature and then delves into the challenges of considering the real-world use case to discuss the pros and cons. It also provides a prescriptive architecture to set the guidelines for BPMN 2.0 usage in service orchestration.
