Fundamental roles of gauge functions in classical dynamics

R. Das, Z. E. Musielak · Europhysics Letters (EPL) · 2025

Abstract This letter demonstrates that scalar gauge functions give the most fundamental description of classical dynamical systems as such functions allow to construct Lagrangians for the systems, and to predict the future dynamical states of these systems, including their transitions from the periodic to non-periodic (chaotic) states, without solving the equations of motion.
