DATA ACCESS GOVERNANCE: SECURING DIGITAL ASSETS IN MODERN ENTERPRISES
International Research Journal of Modernization in Engineering Technology and Science · 2025
In an era where data underpins critical business operations, ensuring that sensitive information remains secure across various platforms and storage systems is paramount.Data Access Governance (DAG) addresses these security challenges, focusing on platforms such as Confluence spaces, SharePoint, OneDrive, SMB file shares on windows servers and storage appliances. This paper explores key principles of Data Access Governance, highlights the potential consequences of inadequate security, and emphasizes how proper access control measures-along with specialized DAG tools-help modern enterprises avert data breaches, mitigate ransomware risks, and maintain overall data integrity.By integrating DAG within an Identity and Access Management (IAM) framework, organizations can establish unified and consistent policies across all data repositories, streamline provisioning and deprovisioning of user access, and maintain the principle of least privilege. This synergy between DAG and IAM ultimately provides a more holistic approach to safeguarding critical data.
