The scientific article analyzes modern scientific works devoted to the study of signatures and other small-sized objects of handwriting, in the performance of which technical techniques and means were applied, on the basis of which the prospects for improving such types of examinations were determined. It is stated that during the period of independence of Ukraine in the field of handwriting studies and related fields of knowledge, a sufficient number of comprehensive works on the analyzed topic have been published, however, the problem of studying signatures and other short handwritten notes made using technical techniques and means is still insufficiently studied. It is noted that the methodology for conducting such studies is a separate methodology of forensic handwriting examination, which is integrative in nature, since it provides for the mandatory establishment of the fact of the use of technical forgery, which precedes the next stage of the study. It is emphasized that while maintaining the traditional scientific, theoretical and methodological basis characteristic of the study of all handwritten records, when conducting relevant research, it is important for the expert to organize work to obtain additional orienting information on the use of technical techniques and means in forgery, to determine factors that affect the quality of the manifestation of individual handwriting features, etc.It is concluded that information that is relevant in the study of small-sized handwriting objects should be combined with traditional methodological provisions of forensic handwriting examination.Further prospects are identified in: identifying methods (simultaneous formation and registration of Raman scattering and photoluminescence spectra; scanning of three-dimensional micro objects; spectral 4D visualization), the use of which will increase the ISSN (рrint) 2708-7530 Наукові перспективи № 3(57) 2025 928 efficiency of the analyzed studies; developing parameters for solving identification and diagnostic tasks in the study of a handwriting object and the features of making technical changes to it; using a comprehensive approach to the study of these signatures and other small-scale handwriting objects.
