Kratika Khunteta · Advances in medical technologies and clinical practice book series · 2025

This chapter covers the integration of AI into a Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS), which resulted in a 37% reduction in diagnostic errors and improved patient outcomes through specific evidence-based suggestions. Furthermore, another approach can be AI-powered virtual consultants which will suggest alternative therapeutic options, particularly in complex situations such as multi-drug-resistant tuberculosis (which has affected over 500,000 people worldwide) and sepsis, which causes nearly 11 million deaths each year. Many case studies have shown that AI can successfully reduce treatment failures in about 30%of cases with resistant illnesses.
